    Countless songs have the ability to inspire lives, but very few are able to save them. One exception is “1-800-273-8255” by Logic featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid, as it focuses on teen depression and suicide.

    Over the course of his career Logic has been told by many fans that his music has saved them during their darkest times, but he wanted to create a song whose purpose is just that; to save lives. The title of this single is the number to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and on the release day, they experienced their second highest call volume ever. His songs gives hope to many people and inspires them to keep going even when they are at their lowest point.

    Overall, the tone of the song is serious and is accompanied by a flowing beat and rhythm. The combination of vocals shared by Logic, Alessia Cara, and Khalid, are able to blend smoothly together and compliment each other without clashing. Although the lyrics are catching, they also have a deeper message associated with them as they depict the thoughts of a suicidal teen and the important people he interacts with during this crucial time in his life.

    The music video open with a scene of a father with a little baby boy in his arms and continues focus on the child as he  transitions from a relatively happy childhood to a high school life filled with constant bullying and rejection as he struggles to accept his sexuality.

    He is pushed to the point of almost committing suicide as he breaks down in tears pulling a gun to his head, but in a split moment of reflection, he decides not to pull the trigger and instead calls the suicide hotline. The video flashes forward to his wedding day and ends with a scene of him holding his own son in his arms.
