On Friday October 12, our school’s student body joined arms in the fight against cancer with the Celebrity Basketball Game hosted by ASB and Power 106, and our annual Relay for Life presented by the American Cancer Society. Our school raised over 10,000 dollars in funds for families affected by cancer, and for research.
Funds from the basketball game will be sent directly to the Desi Geestman Foundation, an organization devoted to providing comfort and support to children and their families who have started their battle with cancer. The American Cancer Society, on the other hand, aids in research to find better treatments, and methods of detection. Both are pivotal to our efforts to make an impact on our society.
Despite the storms that Friday evening, nothing distracted our students and staff from their goal, to spread hope and awareness.
