10 Things to Do Without Using Electronics
Although most teenagers are used to doing most things involving the internet or electronics,
there are dozens of things you can do offline that involve using your brain, imagination, or
creativity.
1. Go on walks or hikes. Nothing is stopping you or your legs from getting up and
moving around town. There are plenty of good trails and quiet streets that are just
stunning.
2. Working out and increasing your physical strength is a great thing to do when you have
free time. Keeping yourself at peak performance is always important and with all this
free time, a few push-ups, sit-ups, or squats will do you more good than harm.
3. Solving a puzzle. Puzzles are not only entertaining, but also great for the mind. They
help reinforce existing connections between our brain cells which helps with short term
memory loss and on top of that, they’re super fun.
4. Cleaning the house and getting organized is another productive thing you can do which
involves no electronics. Shuffling a few loose papers, or vacuuming and mopping your
floors can make you and your floors feel amazing.
5. Play board games. If you’ve been feeling competitive over break, a game of chess or
monopoly is the perfect thing to relieve it all. Both are entertaining and are a good way
to kill time.
6. If you’ve been hungry and bored, then cooking may spice things up. Remember you
don’t have to be a world-famous chef to whip up a quick and tasty meal. You can
always make some of the basics like a peanut butter jelly sandwich, or maybe even
some pasta.
7. Drawing is a fun way to relieve stress and express what you are feeling inside. You can
draw things you are interested in such as landscapes or characters of a book you like.
8. Writing a story or a daily journal is an excellent way to fill uptime. Keeping track of
your daily life is a good way to relieve stress.
9. Create an invention. It may sound unlikely but with all this free time, you may think of
a great idea. You could go to a local hardware store and buy the things necessary, and
who knows, may become the world’s next millionaire.
10. Last but not least, one of the best things you can do without electronics is reading. For
hundreds of years one of the best ways to immerse yourself in another world was to
pick up a book, and get lost in the pages for hours. Sadly, reading has died down as a
hobby for younger people, but with what is going on in the world right now, I’m sure
many will start reading books again.
