The Hoover High football team took home their first win of the season with a 34-6 victory against Gabrielino on Friday night at Hoover High.
Hoover’s Joel Jauregui started the game by scoring a touchdown and the extra point by Daniel Baneham gave the Tornados a 7-0 lead a few minutes into the game.
Just three minutes before the first quarter ended, Ryan Oh scored Hoover’s second touchdown on a 13-yard rushing touchdown.
“I played my best, and I learned a lot. I think our team executed everything perfectly but we have a lot of improvement,” Oh said.
Oh scored another touchdown for the Hoover Tornadoes four minutes into the second quarter, giving Hoover a commanding 21-0 lead. .
Hoover’s Davion Halloway scored a touchdown within minutes of the third quarter, making the score 27-0.
The Tornadoes score again, this time by Javon Lymon, with 3:52 minutes left of the third quarter.
“I felt good and proud of myself for scoring the last touchdown. Our team played really well today,” Lymon said.
“I thought it was magnificent, right? We came close the first two games but lost, came out tonight and kicked their butts,” said William LeClear, the PA announcer of the game and a math teacher at Hoover High.
