The Hoover High boys’ water polo team fought hard in an 8-6 loss to Burbank High on Tuesday, setting the Tornados back for their quest for a Pacific League title.
“We’ve definitely improved, and we’ll improve more, we look forward to seeing them in the finals,” Hoover’s Davit Harutyunyan stated after the game.
Burbank opened with a four-goal scoring run before Hoover scored two right before halftime. Those two Tornado goals gave the Tornados the confidence and morale boost they needed before the second half.
Hoover opened with the second half with a goal, but that was short lived after Burbank had scored two making it, 6-3.
The game continued being a thrilling back and forth from both teams after Hoover scored again with Burbank yet again scoring another two making it 8-4.
Hoover had a late charge, frustrating the Burbank team and coach with two goals before full time with the ending score being 8-6.
“Both teams played a great game, it was really neck to neck and I know that when we see them next time we’ll have different results,” Hoover goalkeeper Grickore Danelyan stated.
Stated Hoover Coach Levon Harutyunyan: “We’ll see them again, in the finals.”
