The class president for the freshmen class of 2027 is ninth grader Trina Shakmirzaian.
Elenia Mardirosian, Leona Khachatourian, and Shakmirzaian competed for this position.
Shakmirzaian has been working for the role of class president since 7th grade.
“I am so proud of her because she worked so hard for this and I know she’s been working at it since 7th grade and so I think that she deserves everything that she has right now,” smiled Anahit Kazaryan.
Shahmirzaian won this election with the help and support of her friends.
Shakmirzaian understood the roles, responsibilities, and pressure and to overcome that nervousness when she was running.
A class president’s responsibility is to listen to the voices of students to provide the care and needs for that class.
“My role is to just listen to everyone, it’s to prioritize other people over myself, and to always prioritize people’s opinions,” Shahmirzaian stated. “Not be biased towards anything, instead, whatever other people want, I do, so it’s kind of like being selfless, but at the same time, it makes me happy.”
Ninth grader Scarlette Kamalian is excited for what Shakmirzaian has to offer.
“I’m looking forward to what the class president plans for the future with fun and memorable moments and listening to our ideas and opinions, overall making this year an exciting year,” Kamalian said.
Shahmirzaian hopes to bring a new light to Hoover and has a message for the freshmen class.
“Freshman year is the last year you really rest and you don’t have to care as much about school,” Shahmirzaian smiled “So my message is just, have fun. Go to all the events, try out new clubs, try out new sports, figure out what you wanna do, don’t just follow the same thing that you did in middle school because then you’ll never be able to experience anything new.”
