As the new season comes in, and the crisp autumn breeze and leaves fall to the ground, the Hoover girls’ basketball team is preparing for its upcoming season as well.
After a season of growth and perseverance, the team is ready to take on new challenges under their dedicated head coach, Chloris Turner. With a realistic but optimistic outlook, the girls are setting their sights on improvement and success.
Last season was a valuable learning experience for the team. Although they faced their fair share of losses, the team emerged stronger and more determined than ever.
Turner, who took the helm in May, has been a driving force behind the team’s transformation.
“I always need to be realistic about what’s happening here, what we can do right now, and our growth,” Coach Turner explained. “I’m not saying we’re going to be the number-one team of our league this season. No. But we can get there. Am I saying that we’re in a better place than when I started in May? Yes. We have a lot of potential, and it’s about what we do with that potential.”
The girls have demonstrated their commitment to success through their rigorous training regimen. On and off the court, they have put in countless hours of practice and participated in off-season games to fine-tune their skills.
However, this dedication has come at a cost, with a few players facing injuries as a result. This only serves as proof of their strong determination to reach their highest potential.
Coach Antoine Simon emphasized the team’s progress, saying, “As a team, we got better than last year. We are aggressive, and we’re on the right track. We improved our attitude, aggressiveness, and teamwork.”
As the new season approaches, the girls’ basketball team is full of optimism. They understand that success may not come overnight but are committed to the journey. With Turner’s leadership and the team’s newfound determination, they are confident that they can make huge strides in their journey for excellence.
