The Hoover Tornado Marching Band attended its second competition at Centennial High School on Saturday, performing their 2023 show called “The Crow.”
HTMB faced its biggest competitor in the Damien Spartan Regiment.
HTMB was late with its arrival at Centennial High. HTMB’s time was cut short to prepare, set up equipment, and warm up with their instruments.
However, HTMB handled the situation and continued to pursue the challenges that came its way. HTMB warmed up and set up quickly and efficiently.
HTMB made it on time to perform its show.
HTMB worked efficiently and professionally
“We had a shorter warmup time than we’re used to so that added a little bit of chaos but overall I think the performance went well, the judges seemed to enjoy,” said Melissa Campbell, Director of Hoover Tornado Marching Band.
“The band has improved a lot since the beginning of the season and facing off against Damien added a lot of stress.”
HTMB took second place in Division 2A out of 6 bands with a score of 73.150. HTMB also received High Percussion with a score of 69.50. Damien came in first place with a score of 73.900.
“I think the placement is less important than the fact that we are improving,” Campbell said.
