As tradition, Hoover held its annual BGD assembly to celebrate the football team’s biggest game of the season.
This year the assembly was held in the big gym for the first time and the crowd was ecstatic, with the gym filled with cheers and support from the student body.
Like every year, there were skits from each grade, performances from the pep team, and an introduction of all the seniors on the football team.
The freshman skit theme was Jurassic Park. There were dinosaurs and cheers all around.
Then there were performances from the Hoover dance and cheer teams, leaving the crowd excited for what’s coming next.
The crowd was then entertained with the sophomore skit, which was Wizard of Oz themed.
Then, the junior class then did its skit based on the Teen Beach movie, which had beach vibes everywhere.
Before moving on to the senior skit, there was a skit from the Flag team, which was then followed up with an amazing performance.
Finally, the senior skit.
With the theme of Barbie vs Oppenheimer, many of the seniors in ASB were included, adding on to the illusion that Hoover was in a real-life fight between Barbie vs. Oppenheimer.
“I’m so happy that the assembly went this way,” ASB President Ruzanna Vartazaryan said.
The BGD competition is a three-part competition among the four grade levels. The Class of 2026 won the chalking competition on Monday with its beautiful yellow brick road chalking. The class of 2024 won the poster competition, painting a 20 x 20 poster in one week in a classroom.
The class of 2024, which won the BGD competition a year ago, also took home the top prize for the skit and was awarded the championship belt for winning the BGD competition for a second consecutive year.
“ASB put in a lot of hours and effort to make this happen so we’re really glad it was all able to come together,” ASB Vice President Andrew Gadimyan said.
