From Soulja Boy costumes to bananas, and from teddy bears to Michael Myers, students dressed up in various costumes to show their spirit and celebrate Halloween at Hoover on Tuesday.
To honor and appreciate the effort the students put into their costume, Hoover held a costume contest to determine which costume was truly the best.
As the students made their way to the upper quad, waiting to be evaluated, the judges observed and discussed which costume would win. After the long wait, the judges finally made their picks.
Melvin Mansourian was picked as second place. His grandpa costume did not fail to disappoint, as he even acted the part. He slowly walked over to the podium with his cane — happily.
The students anxiously waited for the reveal of the winning costume.
“And in first place…,” Dr. Edgar Stepanyan said, “are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!”
The group walked up to the podium with pride. Max Wang, Angelina Naguit, Isabel Maghaguian, and Lyra Hunter grinned from ear to ear as they had just won.
When asked about how they felt about their victory, they all responded with one word. “Cowabunga.”
