The Pacific League recognized Hoover High junior cross-country runner Emma Canal for her efforts in the fall by placing her on the first team.
Canal has been a part of the team since her freshman year, influenced by her peers, and fell in love with the sport after her first race.
Next year, Canal hopes to go above and beyond and make it to CIF State for cross-country, as she has previously made it to CIF Finals.
“I’m glad I’m being recognized for something I put a lot of work into,” Canal said. “I’m really grateful.”
Canal stated that a major factor in her success was her coach and her friends.
“They make the environment a lot more lively and inspire me to show up every practice,” Canal said.
