Hoover High School is undergoing a track and field renovation project, which involves a total cost of $1.1 million to reconstruct the area completely. The funds from the project are from the Restricted Routine Maintenance funds.
Raymond Mikaily, the Facilities Planning and Maintenance Department administrator in the Glendale Unified School District, stated that “it’s the first time in ten years that the field has been replaced.” As a result, students and athletes are thrilled to play on the newly constructed field.
“The field is long overdue and I’m glad that they are reconstructing it,” Hoover Athletic Director Jack Van Patten said. “It’s better late than never.”
Track athlete Zoe Guillot-Denoyelle also had positive thoughts about the renovations.
“I honestly think it’s a great renovation because it will be a beautiful track for amazing athletes to practice on,” Guillot-Denoyelle said.
Originally, the renovation was meant to be finished by the end of spring break. The field portion will make this due date. However, due to heavy and consistent rainfall, the track renovation is to be put on hold for the time being.
The renovated field will feature a vibrant purple color painted in both end zones. The new color scheme is going to change the look of the field.
