Hoover High senior Zack Van Patten was named to the All-CIF Southern Section Division 5AA team.
He is the first Hoover basketball player to be named to the All-CIF team in 16 years.
“It feels great to be selected for All – CIF. It’s a nice way to end my senior season so I’m happy,” Van Patten said.
The last player to be named to the All-CIF team was 2008 grad Shara Babakhanians.
Van Patten averaged 23 points, 5.4 assists, 6.1 rebounds, and an impressive three steals per game for the Tornados, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the playoffs.
His coach and father Jack Van Patten stated, “Extremely proud of him, it’s tough, first time in sixteen years which is a big accomplishment. It’s a big deal.”
