Spring break means a different thing to everyone.
For some, it is time to stay at home and hibernate while watching Netflix and sleeping until noon.
For others, it’s time to go outside and explore the world, whether that be on a vacation miles away or day trips around Los Angeles. The Tornado Times interviewed Hoover students to see exactly what our students were doing during the break.
Freshman Amber Romano traveled to Washington D.C. and Virginia with her family. America’s capital is famous for its beautiful cherry blossoms that bloom during the spring. Romano shared that while on her trip, she “saw Joe Biden in a helicopter” arriving at the White House.
Delilah Tifa, a freshman, traveled to the Dominican Republic to celebrate her quinceanera. She spent time on the beach, went kayaking and ate delicious food.
She also had an interesting experience with a boat ride.
“I got lost at sea for seven hours because the boat’s motor broke,” Tifa said. “They thought the battery stopped working so we had to wait for another boat to bring a new battery. It didn’t work and they realized it was a motor issue. We had to wait for a rescue boat to come.”
Ryan Cantos, a junior, visited his sister in South Korea over break.
“It was really difficult being over there because the language barrier was a huge problem for us, but other than that there was beautiful scenery and I got to hang out with family,” Cantos said.
Whether staying at home over break or exploring the world, spring break is a time where everyone gets to rest, relax, and enjoy not being at school.
