Hoover High School’s drama department is hosting this year’s second open mic night on Friday at the Hoover little theater.
The event is open to all Hoover students, alumni, friends and families, and will begin at 5 pm.
Hoover students who want to perform in the show must arrive at 4:30 pm to sign up for one of the slots.
Performances can be comedy acts, skits, monologues, dances, music and more. Slots are open to solos, duos, trios, or larger groups.
The money raised during the event will be directly used for Drama club to aid with future productions and activities, including the upcoming musical “Singin’ in the Rain,” which will run May 1-3.
The event is a great outlet for aspiring performers and seasoned stage lovers alike to test out the waters of live entertainment.
Drama Club member Nelly Minassian urged her fellow Tornados to “feel free to express [themselves] in any way, and to use [their] creativity and be as awesome as possible.”
For those who aren’t ready for their moment in the spotlight, Drama club member Ryan Cantos implored Hoover students to come to the event as an audience member
“I think people should come to open mic night, because we have a lot of talented drama students who have really creative ideas… Our drama club chairs have [planned] this event for a while and are enthusiastic about [it],” Cantos said.
Whether it be to make your stage debut or just to have a good laugh in the audience, Hoover’s drama club encouraged everyone to attend Open Mic night.
Drama teacher Anna Marie Schmidt hopes to see a great turnout.
“Come to perform, show off your musical or acting or comedic talents and to support our drama club here on campus, you will have a good time no matter what,” she said.
