Hoover’s End of the Year Rally was a big success. The theme of the assembly was “Hoover’s Got Talent.”
Various spring sports teams participated in the rally, including the boys’ tennis, track, swim boys’ volleyball, baseball, softball, dance ,flags and cheer teams. The rally was unlike any other since all of the seasonal sports took part in the dances and skits.
“It went great,” said Edgar Stepanyan, the ASB advisor, “The sports teams were all involved. So I was super excited about that.”
The rally first started with a grand entrance from the seniors.
The stage was set by introducing the theme. The judges, who were students impersonating Terry Crews, Howie Mendel, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara, took their seats at their voting booth.
The freshmen performance of Taylor Swift was quickly given the buzzer sound.
Then, the sophomores presented a drum performance, followed by a dance from the juniors.
Math teacher William LeClear sang his heart out while performing “Save the Last Dance for Me” by Michael Buble.
The dance team then gave a spectacular performance that was worthy of first place. A game of musical chairs took place, with the seniors winning like they did in the Welcome Back assembly in the beginning of the year.
The cheer team then took ownership of the stage by presenting another great dance. However, that would not top off the softballs and baseballs recreation of Rihanna’s halftime show.
The flags team then entered with a great performance, which was followed by the track and boys’ tennis teams’ skit earning them a golden buzzer and a one-way ticket to the semifinals.
“It was great honestly, the rehearsal was amazing and there were so many fun people. And I really liked my partner’s bit, which was Ella Asatori,” said Zoe Guillot-Denoyelle, a member of the track team.
The volleyball team then did an “Incredibles” performance, which then was followed by an “Under the Sea” dance battle between the swim team and the dance team.
The rally ended by a traditional recitation of the Alma Mater, which LeClear led.
“I really liked the assembly,” said Trina Shahmirzaian, the freshmen class president. “Everyone was really cool and very spirited, and my favorite part was Ejmin who played the piano. I think a lot of people put a lot of effort in, over the weeks I’ve seen so many people putting so much effort into knowing the skits, learning the skits, doing the props, doing the set stuff.”
