WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) is a national agency that examines schools, colleges, and universities. Without WASC’s accreditation, the school’s diploma is useless. WASC is operated by educators from other schools. They will visit the campus on March 16-19.
WASC supports schools in meeting key standards, such as ensuring students receive an equitable learning experience. They also focus on maintaining a safe and vibrant environment where all students feel they belong.
Janna Kasmansian, who is in charge of writing the report, says, “The visitation team will be looking for evidence that the school is meeting its goals and providing a high educational experience.”
Professional educators and administrators from other school institutions operate WASC. The team visiting our school will evaluate the instruction, student services, and curriculum. The Commission will also be looking to see if they pass the accreditation process.
WASC is important for our school because it helps us raise funds, improve college admissions, and improve the reputation of our community. It also establishes trust in parents, students, and the community so they know it’s a safe learning space.
The WASC team will examine how the school pursues student progress and how it approaches a student who needs support. Based on their assessment of the school’s current state, they will determine whether to return in 1, 2, 3, or 6 years.
