For any students that could not make it to AP Night, not to worry, this article should answer any questions you may have. The event explained everything from how these courses work, what’s expected of you, and who you can contact if you need help. We went over the registration process, exam fees, and details for new or transferring students.
All first-time AP students were required to attend the webinar to learn about the AP testing process, which is run by the College Board. If you attended the meeting, you should have scanned the QR code at the end for attendance. However, if you were not able to attend the meeting, it’s no issue; you can watch the recorded version and scan the code afterward.
After joining your AP Classroom with the code from your teacher, you’re officially enrolled. Just make sure to pay for the AP exam (about $100 per course, with some exceptions like AP Seminar and AP Research). Be sure to make your payment by November 1 to avoid any penalties.
AP courses at Hoover are treated like college classes. Once you’re in, you’re in for the year—so think carefully before committing. Dropping out mid-year is only allowed under very special circumstances. You may Contact Mr. Y for more information.
Our AP counselor reminded everyone that AP Night isn’t about solving problems—it’s about setting you up for success. He highlighted that the webinar helps track who’s fully informed (by scanning the QR code), and that every detail, from registration to managing mid-year transfers, is taken care of. If you’re transferring mid-year, you may need to catch up on coursework, but support is available to help you with the transition.
What’s New This Year?
Hoover is adding some exciting new courses to the mix, bringing the total to 27 AP courses. These newly offered courses include:
- AP Seminar

These new options mean more chances to tailor your schedule to your interests and goals.
So, if you’re considering AP classes, remember: it’s a big commitment, it’s challenging, but it’s totally worth it. Here’s to taking on new challenges and setting ourselves up for a brighter future—one AP class at a time!
