The Winter Sports Assembly occurred on February 7, 2025, in the Big Gym of Hoover High. This assembly celebrated the Girls’ Water Polo, Wrestling, Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball, and Girls’ and Boys’ Soccer teams. Students were excited to celebrate their friends’ accomplishments!
The Associated Student Body (ASB) is always planning assemblies. For this assembly, the freshmen class organized a skit with the soccer teams, the sophomores organized the Girls’ Water Polo skit, the junior class organized the Wrestling team’s skit, and the seniors worked with the Basketball teams on their skit.
The assembly started with a small Disney-themed dance from the ASB members. In this introduction, the ASB students were characters from certain Disney movies/cartoons and danced to a song from the Tangled movie [Disney movie]. The rest of the assembly included dance routines from Cheer, Dance, Pep Flags, and Hoover Band as well as a few games to entertain the audience.
All skits/dances were choreographed to songs from Disney movies, picked out by ASB. The Water Polo Team danced to a song from the movie Moana. The Wrestling team did a skit to a song from the movie Mulan. The Basketball team did a skit to a song from the movie High School Musical. The Soccer team did a skit to the theme song of Toy Story.
Adelina Herapetian (’28) said, “I think it was a good way to bring the Hoover Spirit into our school,” when asked what she thought of the assembly.
“What I liked best about the assembly was the performances. For example, the dance and cheer teams, because it was well organized and I could tell they put effort to make it perfect,” Elizabeth Gomez Tomas (’28) said when asked to share her thoughts on the assembly. “And yes, I think the assembly went well because it seemed planned well and had many activities/games for students.
This assembly ended with Hoover’s Alma Mater just as all the other assemblies at Hoover High School. Students and teachers had fun during the assembly celebrating all the accomplishments the students had during the Winter Sports Season!
