While anyone can become an ASB member and receive benefits like discounts on school events, ASB is a school government class. Joining the Associated Student Body (ASB) offers students a unique chance to shape their school experience while building strong bonds with peers. As Senior Class President, Natalia Khodaverdi says, “You’ll meet new people and make friendships with other students who are passionate about making the school better.”
Planning large events, such as homecoming, may seem daunting, but according to 2025 ASB President Arman Arakelyan(’25), “Planning events like homecoming is challenging but so much fun at the same time. It brings the whole school together.”
Applications to join ASB are released at the beginning of February for the following school year. Applicants must complete the form and submit a teacher’s Letter of Recommendation. Once approved by ASB teacher, Dr. Edgar Stepanyan, students can officially join.
Seniors play a significant role within ASB, as Khodaverdi points out, “Whether it’s our last BGD skits and posters, our prom, homecoming, or the Night Rally, it’s up to us to plan a lot of the activities. But all the other grades help, and we work together as one big family.”
ASB is responsible for organizing a variety of events throughout the school year, from athletic game student sections to spirit weeks, homecoming, assemblies, and senior events like Baccalaureate, Grad Nite, and prom. Beyond these core duties, ASB also runs smaller activities like Fun Fridays and fundraisers, as well as the Student Store.
The SAC (Student Activities Center) room is where ASB students store materials such as paint, poster paper, and paintbrushes. However, due to the limited space, seniors have a dedicated “Senior Room” where they work on their specific projects, including posters, videos, and centerpieces for social media.
Although ASB can be time-consuming, with students often working outside of school hours, the experience is rewarding and helps build a strong case for college applications. “ASB shows involvement, dedication, and hard work to colleges and universities,” says Natalia.
ASB member Mia Marekhashvili (‘25) shares her enthusiasm. “The teamwork, the energy, and the sense of accomplishment after pulling off successful events are all so rewarding. It’s been such an incredible experience, and I can’t wait for even more!”
The current ASB leadership team includes the ASB President Arman Arakelyan(‘25), Senior Class President Natalia Khodaverdi(’25), Junior Class President Milena Asatryan(’26), Sophomore Class President Anahit Kazaryan(’27), and Freshman Class President Mery Mnatsakanyan(’28).
