Every year on April 22, people worldwide celebrate Earth Day, a global event dedicated to environmental protection and sustainability. This event has grown into an international movement that raises awareness about pressing environmental issues and encourages individuals, communities, and organizations to take meaningful action in preserving our planet.
Earth Day is also a reminder of how important it is to save the environment from challenges such as pollution, deforestation, and climate change. Earth Day is a chance for governments, schools, businesses, and environmental organizations to put policies into place, start projects, and plan events that support environmental sustainability.
Beneficial environmental change has been greatly helped by Earth Day. Some of its major effects are business and governmental participation, awareness and education, laws and policies, and community action, as stated in EPA History: Earth Day.
Through community organizing and collaboration between nations, Earth Day expanded into a global celebration. Senator Gaylord Nelson created it in response to growing environmental issues, and on April 22, 1970, it became officially recognized in the United States. According to earthday-365.org, the event received national attention and resulted in the creation of important environmental policies.
