On Saturday, Herbert Hoover’s softball team played against Bolsa Grande, beating them 12-7.
The game went very well for the team and coach Derek Parker. “I think it went great, and all the girls did a great job working together and picking each other up when something went wrong.” said Anahit Kazaryan, a sophomore on the softball team.
The softball team has been doing very well this season, with 10 wins and 5 losses, which is the most wins Hoover softball has had since 2010. They are also very close to making the playoffs for the first time since 1997.
“It has been really good. We already have 10 wins. That’s the most this school has had since 2010,” says Parker. “We hope to be a playoff team, and we hope to win more games than the school has ever won in one season.”
With a great season comes great memories. “My favorite moment from this season was definitely our game against Marshal, because not only was it our first game allowing us to start the season off with a bang, but Marshall was our first loss my freshman year so it felt great to secure that win,” said Kazaryan
Softball is a great sport to be a part of because it involves a group of amazing girls. Even better, it is a sport you don’t have to be good at the first time. Throughout the season you can work on your skills, and you will gradually build up your skills and confidence through the conditioning.
We encourage you to join the softball team next year, and we encourage you to go out and support our amazing softball team!
