Students at Herbert High School who want to squeeze more into their day are getting a new opportunity. Zero Period classes will now be offered. Starting next school year, select courses will be available from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM, before the regular school day begins.
The new schedule option is designed to help students fit more into their academic plan, especially those juggling core classes, electives, and graduation requirements.
“I’ve been wanting to take an extra elective, but my schedule was always full,” said a current sophomore. “This could finally give me that chance.”
What is Zero Period?
Zero Period is an early morning class that meets daily before first period. Students who enroll will have seven total classes and finish the school day at the regular time, 3:30 PM.
Classes Available by Grade Level
- US History, for current 10th graders
- World History, for current 9th graders
- PE, for current 10th or 11th graders
- Health/Ethnic Studies, for incoming 9th graders
This option opens the door for more flexibility, whether students want to get ahead in core classes or make room for electives like art, music, or digital media.
