Ani Tashchian, a familiar face in the Glendale Unified School District, is beginning a new chapter this school year.
After six impactful years at Toll Middle School, she has joined the English Department at Hoover High School.
“I’ll always be a middle school teacher at heart because I really connect with those students,” Tashchian said. “But I’m also excited to work with high school students, connect with them on a different level, and build relationships because of their maturity.”
During her time at Toll, Tashchian built lasting connections with her students and grew as an educator.
Now, she hopes to carry that same positive energy into her classrooms at Hoover.
“Getting to work with high school students, building connections, and learning about the high school environment is something I’m really looking forward to,” said Tashchian, who served as an assistant principal at Dolores Huerta Middle School in Burbank for the last two years.
Students aren’t the only ones who can feel nervous about stepping into a new school.
For teachers, too, a change of environment can bring its own challenges.
But for Tashchian, the move isn’t something to fear, it’s an opportunity.
“My goal by the end of the year is to make sure that all of my students leave with a strong growth mindset,” Tashchian said.
Her students are already noticing her warmth and enthusiasm.
“Ms. T is a really nice person. It’s her first year at Hoover, and she’s made class really fun,” shared sophomore Omar Mendez.
With her passion for teaching and dedication to her students, Tashchian is ready to make a meaningful impact at Hoover from day one.
