Hoover High School’s dance program is welcoming back three familiar faces.
Hoover graduates Aditia Allahyarian, Kylie Bacalso, and McKayla Lim have returned to their alma mater as the team’s new coaches.
All three coaches were once members of the dance program themselves, making this a special year for them.
“The Hoover dance team has that place in my heart because of my successes and achievements that I know I can pass to the newer teams,” Lim said.
“The best part of being a part of this team was knowing you have the best support system because of the close friendships you build throughout your time spent together.”
They know the dedication it takes to balance school, long practices, and performances, and they are eager to guide the current team through those same challenges.
“The Hoover dance team shaped me in mind and body. Not only did it give me lifelong friends and cherished memories, it also instilled discipline, a hard work ethic, self-motivation, and leadership skills that carry me to this day,” Bacalso explained
“I chose to come back as a coach as a way to give back to a community that gave so much to me. By coaching this new team, I aim to create a safe space to give them a similar, if not more, memorable and transformative experience on the team.”
They aim to lead this team to success, starting with an inspirational talk.
“Some days will be tough, and not every performance or practice will go perfectly, but that’s part of the journey to success. On the days you don’t feel confident, lean on your team and lift one another up because that’s what creates a great team,” said Allahyarian.
Lim believes that the dancers are one step further to being the dancer she wants to become.
“There is always room for improvement and growth and with that mindset,” says Lim.
Head Coach Bridget Bacon is delighted to have help from outstanding alumni.
“They have a different perspective and outlook with the team but the same common goal,” Bacon said.
“I know once we begin competition season, they will be extremely valuable when it comes to cleaning routines and helping each dancer be the best version of themselves as they take the Nationals floor.”
