This year marks the 59th Tour of Homes; the fundraiser is known to always be held around the holidays. This next month it will take place on Saturday December 10, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Guests who attend this event spend a morning touring a number of lavish homes in Glendale, and enjoying performances by Hoover’s choir, orchestra, and jazz band.
“My favorite part of the Tour is to see how the students take ownership in the event,” PTA President Kirsten Hersh said.
Student docents volunteer as guides for the guests, welcoming and familiarizing them with the architecture and interior design of the homes. Each room in a house has a designated student to present its unique style.
The search for the houses that will be featured in the event is a process that can begin as early as a year before.
“The Tour Committee is always keeping their eyes open for future prospects,” Hersh said.
The fundraiser serves as a way for students to earn community service hours and grant scholarships for seniors.
In the past years, due to the event’s success, the PTA awarded up to $30,000 in scholarships to deserving students.
“In the hustle and bustle of a busy season it seems fitting to take time out to enjoy this Hoover holiday tradition,” Hersh said.
The Tour of Homes has become one of Glendale’s most favored traditions, allowing for the community to get in the holiday spirit together.
