As the fall sports season comes to an end, the winter sports seasons are just beginning. The Hoover girls’ soccer team is prepared for its season.
The team has practiced since August upwards to three days a week as it gets ready to return to the field.
Katie Coppersmith, a junior, has been on the team since freshman year and hopes that players are healthy in time for their season.
“Coming off of the off season the team is going through a couple injuries with some key players,” Coppersmith said. “Hopefully that won’t affect the preseason and hopefully all the players are healthy by the time league games come up in December.”
Breann Pimenta, a senior, feels optimistic about her team and is excited to see what the team will accomplish this year.
“We have a better chance at getting somewhere in our season,” Pimenta said. “I think we have a really strong team. We just need to focus on working together and everybody showing up. I’m really excited to see you what we can do this year.”
Kayla Zakarian, also a senior, reflected back on her years of being on the soccer team and shared her favorite part of being on this team.
“I like the team dynamic,” Zakarian said. “How close we are with everyone and how everyone is friends.”
Coach Adam Coppersmith shared goals and views about the upcoming season.
“[The] goals of a team are for them to develop individually and as a team to get better throughout the season to be competitive in every game,” Coach Coppersmith said. “And the goals of the team are to do as well as possible in league play and hopefully to make CIF playoffs at the end of the season.”
