Melanie Hartounian, a sophomore at Hoover High, was recognized for her efforts on Hoover’s girls’ volleyball team.
Humorously, Hartounian didn’t know she received an honorable mention on this list.
“Well, I feel proud that I got this award, however I didn’t know that I got it.” Hartounian explained.
Hartounian played the setter position for the varsity team, and she plans to do the same next season, only that she plans to do much more from a team perspective. She plans to use this award as a way to help her teammates up for next season.
“I’d like to work together more with my team, generally just communicating more on the court,” she said.
“I hope that with this award I could encourage my teammates to always try their best and to work hard.”
In terms of improving individually, Hartounian said, “Well, I do think I’ll improve next season for sure, I’ll be playing at many different clubs outside of school.”
