Senior Aliyah Gudino is heading to the University of Hawaii.
Gudino has been a part of the cheer team for all four years and is now the captain. She decided to attend the University of Hawaii for their clinical psychology program.
“I was very excited,” Gudino said. “I jumped up and down, saying ‘I got in, I got in’ to my sister, and then told my mom.”
Her mother, Anna Gudino, almost cried thinking about how many miles away she would be.
“I’m super excited for her, a little scared, but very excited and proud of her,” Anna Gudino said. “I cry every day; I’m very excited for her, but it’s taking a little piece of you away.”
Her daughter is nervous about flying across the Pacific Ocean to go to school.
“I feel nervous but excited,” Aliyah said. “I’m nervous because I’m not going to be around my family or friends and be in a whole new environment by myself, but I’m excited for this new chapter in my life.”
