School events play a major role in uniting students, teachers, and even parents at Hoover High School. These events help create a sense of community, making the school more than just a place to study. From fun activities to celebrations of different cultures, these events bring everyone together in a way that builds school spirit and pride.
At Hoover High, we have a variety of events throughout the year. Some are meant for fun, like the Winter Rally, and food trucks like Boba Time and Churros, while others are more about showing school spirit, like the assemblies and the “Poster Drop.” Events like the “Roadshow” allow middle schoolers to visit and experience high school life before they arrive. Other events celebrate culture, like Hispanic Heritage Month, where we had traditional dancers and cultural activities. These events show off different aspects of our school and bring everyone together to learn, have fun, and celebrate.
Throughout the school year, we have many events at different times. For example, the “Winter Rally” takes place in December, while the “Back to School Night” happens in the fall. Assemblies happen several times yearly, with some after big football games, like the “BGD Assembly. There are also cultural celebrations throughout the year, such as ‘Country Months,’ where each month is dedicated to a different culture.
Most events happen right here on the Hoover High campus. The assemblies are held in the gym or auditorium, while the “Poster Drop” happens on the balcony, giving everyone a chance to see the colorful posters that represent each grade level. Food trucks and fun activities are set up outside, so students can enjoy snacks and drinks while hanging out with friends during lunch and snack. Some cultural celebrations are held in classrooms, such as clubs. There are a variety of clubs, each representing different things for each student to be interested in, but others are larger events that take place in the main areas of the school.
These events help bring people together in many ways. They give students and staff a chance to connect outside of the classroom. For example, after the big football game, the “BGD Assembly” lets everyone celebrate the team’s hard work and have fun. The “Winter Rally” gives students a chance to enjoy fun games and activities. Clubs offer students a way to pass the time during lunch, allowing them to visit places that interest them, learn new things, and connect with others who share similar passions.
These events help build school spirit, making everyone feel like they are part of something bigger. They also allow us to celebrate different cultures, like the Hispanic Heritage Month, and more events, where students can learn about other cultures and traditions.
Many people are involved in organizing and participating in these events. The ASB (Associated Student Body) plays a big role, from creating posters to organizing food trucks and planning rallies. Teachers also help by supporting events in the classroom and encouraging students to participate. Students are the ones who make these events fun, whether it’s by attending assemblies or performing at cultural events. Parents also get involved, especially during events like “Back to School Night,” when they get to see what their kids have been up to. Violeta Grigoryan mentioned (parent)”I was thrilled to attend back-to-school night. It gave me a great opportunity to learn more about what my child is working on and I had a blast participating in all the fun activities!”
These events help build a sense of unity at Hoover High. There is always something to bring students together. The energy at these events makes us feel connected, not just as classmates but as a community. These shared experiences create lasting memories that help shape our time at Hoover High School
