Spring break is over, and we’re back to school with only 48 days left in the year. For many students, it’s hard to get back into the swing of things after a week of relaxation.
During the April 1 Student Connect with counselors and staff, an important topic was staying motivated as we head into the final stretch of the school year.
Ms. Suri, one of our advisors, shared that she finds creating a morning routine helpful in staying motivated. She emphasizes the importance of convincing herself to wake up early, setting a positive tone for the day ahead. Ms. Hernandez mentioned that connecting with her colleagues in the morning helps her transition back into the school mindset, making her feel more engaged and ready for the day. Meanwhile, Ms. Ebrahimi rewards herself by getting her nails done, using it as a personal incentive to stay focused and motivated.
Ms. Suri also asked everyone to think about what motivates us. I spoke with students, and some said they feel inspired by a good grade or a big project. Others said their friends or family help keep them going. But the truth is, after a long break, it’s not always easy to get back into work mode.
Motivation may feel low after you’ve had a chance to relax, but it’s important to use this time to push yourself toward the finish line. A good way to get started is to set small goals. Whether it’s finishing homework earlier or getting better grades in a specific subject, small steps can lead to big results.
Even something as simple as creating a morning routine or making a checklist can help keep us on track. Teachers also reminded us that taking breaks is important. Balancing work and rest helps prevent burnout, and it’s important to stay connected with friends for support.
Spring break was fun, but now we have just 48 days left to make the most of the school year. With a little motivation and planning, we can finish strong!
