The Hoover Tornado Marching Band is steering their way to a new truck with a fundraiser through the company SnapRaise.
A marching band truck is necessary for many of the bands proceedings, including transporting instruments, props, etc. for competitions and performances.
“A new truck would give all the students a fair chance to perform this season,” said truck crew captain Adonis Stone. “With our current truck, we don’t know whether [it’ll] start or not during competition days, and without a truck we can’t perform.”
Stone recalled a vital moment when the truck broke down during 2024 state finals.
“Our truck was almost two hours late because [it] broke down. Staff and parents needed to unload all the heavy equipment and reload into parent cars, and then they had to drive to the competition site that was two hours away,” said Stone.
However, HTMB band director Melissa Campbell is looking into a permanent replacement for the truck through the money gained from their SnapRaise fundraiser online.
“A lot of our families know that we are in need of a new truck, and having their support in getting the word out has been great,” said Campbell. “We’ve raised over $10,000 in one week and I hope it continues for the rest of the month!”
Every dollar counts towards less stress for the performers, staff, and booster parents.
“Currently, we are planning to rent additional trucks to secure that our equipment arrives safely to and from competitions. We are looking at long term plans to replace the truck, hopefully by the spring of 2026,” Campbell said.
