The Hoover High boys’ water polo team is back in the playoffs.
The Tornados will take on Pacific League rival Burbank in a first-round match of the CIF Southern Section Division 3 postseason at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Hoover.
“I feel very fulfilled and very good about it because the last time we went to playoffs was my sophomore year,” said Hoover’s David Tarakhchyan. “It definitely was the most fun experience I’ve had playing water polo, and I’m glad to be playing playoffs again this year.”
Hoover is familiar facing Burbank. The Tornados beat the Bulldogs, 17-12, on Sept. 18 and lost to Burbank, 11-10, on Oct. 16.
“We’ve played them so we know what to do, what they are good at, what they are bad at, and we practiced what there bad at and were trying to capitalize on what there bad on,” said Hoover’s Arthur Tarakhchyan.
The winner of the Hoover-Burbank match will play second-seeded Upland or Cathedral in Tuesday’s second round.
“I think we can beat [Upland],” David Tarakhchyan said. “I don’t think any other team is better than us and we have the best chance of winning.”
