Hoover High School was buzzing with excitement, smiles, and school spirit as students gathered in the upper quad for one of the most beloved traditions of the year — the annual poster drop.
During EO (Enrichment Time), students watched eagerly as the giant, colorful posters for each grade were unveiled, kicking off the week with energy, creativity, and school pride.
Each year, ASB students design and create a large themed poster for every grade, showcasing their artistic talent and enthusiasm. This year’s themes were inspired by classic movies, transforming the quad into a vibrant celebration of imagination.
The Freshmen went classic with Snow White.
Freshman Class ASB President Nellie Tarakhchyan explained why the theme was a perfect fit:
“I chose Snow White for the freshmen BGD theme because I feel like it shows that as first-year students, it’s not too difficult yet still interesting enough for people to enjoy,” she said.
Next, the sophomores transported the crowd to an enchanted castle with Beauty and the Beast.
Sophomore Class ASB President Mery Mnatsakanyan said the theme also allowed them to explore the fun dynamic between hero and villain:
“I chose Beauty and the Beast because I really liked the idea of having both a villain and a hero, and I also loved the music. I think it fits BGD perfectly,” she said.
The excitement continued as the Juniors brought adventure to the quad with their Aladdin poster.
Junior Class ASB President Evelyna Kodzhoyan noted the connection between the movie and Hoover’s biggest rivalry:
“I chose Aladdin not only because it’s one of my all-time favorite Disney movies, but the tension between the main characters reminded me of Hoover and Glendale competing for the bell — which made it a perfect fit,” she said.
Finally, the Seniors turned up the energy with their Rio theme — a colorful celebration of music, tropical birds, and school spirit, capturing the excitement of their final year.
Senior Class ASB President Tina Davtyan reflected on why the theme perfectly represented their journey through high school:
“We chose Rio because it represents diversity, unity, and the power of coming together to achieve anything. Just like in Rio, our high school years have been full of exciting moments, collaboration, and celebrating our differences, which made us stronger as one,” she said.
