Block schedule to continue next school year

Block schedule to continue next school year

Students at Hoover High School will be returning in-person for the 2021-2022 school year, adopting a similar block schedule to what was implemented this past year.

In light of the Covid-19 Pandemic, all GUSD schools adapted a remote learning system, consisting of rotating block periods. Periods 1, 3, and 5 will meet two days a week while Periods 2, 4, and 6 will meet on the other two days.

Although students will return to campus in the fall, the schedule will continue since many benefits came from Block Schedules.

It is undecided whether all periods will meet on Wednesdays, or another day, for shorter periods of time, or if the regular schedule will rotate each week.

Additionally, homeroom classes (1st/2nd period) will either be longer or a separate period will be used for enrichment purposes.  Classes will also begin at 8:30 a.m. and the school day will go longer, instead of the usual 8:00 a.m. in-person time in order to comply with new Educational Codes.

Clark has been using a block schedule and the new plan is similar to theirs. More information to come over the next few weeks on what Hoover’s schedule will look like.
