Nowruz begins today, March 20. It is the Persian and Iranian New Year, celebrated during the spring equinox. As part of this tradition, families come together for gatherings and feasts while reflecting on the past year. They embrace the new season and the New Year, viewing it as an opportunity for new beginnings.
The term “Nowruz” means “New Day” in Persian. Celebrations often include preparing a Haft Seen table, which is filled with foods and fruits believed to bring good luck. This holiday is observed in 12 different countries, primarily in the Middle East and parts of Asia.
Today, Ms. Javidan wishes the Hoover staff a Happy Nowruz!
