“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”-Lao Tzu
In the current generation, instant gratification is at an all-time high.
Whether it be an Instagram like or an immediate text back, instant gratification is a phenomenon that is taking over people.
Although, with such a powerful aspect of our lives, this generation’s people are now growing extremely impatient, and are learning the hard way that not everything can come to them as quickly as a phone call.
Success, social skills, relationships, goals, recovery, and jobs are only a few things that the current generation has no patience for. I always see people my own age complaining about how nothing is happening right away, and even how 18th birthdays seem to be too far away.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” was said by Lao Tzu, who was an ancient Chinese philosopher and writer.
Teens in this generation need to apply this quote to their lives. Not everything always comes easily, and not everything always comes right away.
Not everything is as fast as 4G LTE high speed data. Some things need to be worked for, and patience is required.
Even for mentally struggling people, this quote can be applied. The journey to recovery can be long and rigorous, but the light is there at the end of the tunnel. Small steps can turn into huge steps, and the long journey will be started. It will come to an end eventually.
A much simpler perspective of the quote can be offered in the example of starting a school project.
A huge assignment due by the end of the month has just been assigned to you. You know that the project is worth a lot of points, and should be well-constructed so a good grade is earned. Starting the project is usually the hardest part, but “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” Once the step to starting and planning is taken, the rest comes easy.
Never worry! There is a solution to impatience and anxieties of big futures.
Applying this quote is the best start.
