The Hoover High boys’ water polo team ended its regular season with a 12-7 Pacific League win against rival Glendale in a thrilling match on Tuesday at Glendale High.
“We knew it was an important game and that we needed as many goals as possible so we stuck with it and kept going until the very end and pushed hard,” Hoover’s Davit Harutyunyan said. “But that game is over, onto the next, we have to train harder. Our hard work is paying off and we plan on continuing the hard work to be the best version of ourselves we can be”
Hoover opened the match with a goal followed by a Glendale goal to end the quarter, 1-1, after a slow and tight start from both teams.
The second quarter was a strong performance by Hoover with a two-goal run by Hoover, sealing the half at 3-1.
The third quarter was nothing short of exciting as it was a constant back and forth between the rival schools. It was a constant back and forth the whole game and the fourth quarter was the same.
“It always feels good to come out on the winning side of BGD,” Hoover Coach Coach Levon Harutyunyan said. “The boys played well. They made me proud and I think we are back up at the standard I wanted us to be. We finally overcame the obstacles that went our way throughout the season.”
