The Hoover High football team traveled to Calabasas and suffered a 21-13 loss to Viewpoint on Friday night.
Viewpoint started the game strong. It scored a touchdown with 9:11 on the clock and then added another score less than four minutes later, taking a 13-0 lead in the first quarter.
It added to its lead with its last touchdown, with the score coming with 5:18 left in the second quarter.
Hoover’s AJ Francisco scored a touchdown in the first half to make the score 21-6.
“We fought hard. I feel like our team did better in the second half than the first but it was a good fight,” Hoover kicker Daniel Baneham said.
The second half of the game was a struggle trying to score a touchdown.
Hoover’s Joel Juaregui scored a touchdown with 4:59 on the clock, but that was as close as the Tornados would get.
“We came back in the second half, we played football,” Hoover’s Armen Tovmasyan said. “I don’t really care about the score, we played a good game. We are ready for Glendale next week.”
The Tornados will play Glendale in their storied rivalry on Thursday at Glendale High. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
“I’m always ready for BGD,” Hoover wide receiver Davion Halloway said.
