Seniors Ava Khachikyan and Savannah Studebaker are bound for a college experience together at the University of California San Diego.
Khachikyan was thrilled to find out that she had gotten accepted.
“I couldn’t believe it at first. I had to keep rereading the decision over and over again,” said Khachikyan. “It was my first acceptance, so it felt surreal.”
UCSD was one of Khachikyan’s top choices.
“The campus is in La Jolla, which is a beautiful area, and it’s also a top three public school in the [United States],” claimed Khachikyan.
Khachikyan chose to major in philosophy on a pre-law track.
“Philosophy is a good major because it has a lot to do with logic,” said Khachikyan. “It’ll help me out a lot on the LSAT and bar exam.”
On the contrary, Studebaker decided to major in applied mathematics.
“During ninth, tenth, and eleventh [grade], I was really good at math,” said Studebaker.
Studebaker had to make a decision between USCD and the University of California Irvine, but she ultimately decided to commit to San Diego.
“USCD has a better STEM program,” claimed Studebaker. “I hear better things about their research opportunities and internships because they’re near a bunch of tech companies.”
She was most excited about the opportunities awaiting her at college.
“I’ll be on my own and I can do what I want,” said Studebaker. “This will be my chance to finally be outside and meet new people.”
