After years of hard work, William Avanessian is headed to UCLA.
Avanessian was thrilled when he received the news of his admission.
“I was hyped; I was very excited; it was very fun. I didn’t have a dream school, but that was the best option, so I was very excited, and my mom was very excited,” said Avanessian.
Avanessian is most excited about the opportunities offered.
“There are a lot of clubs and opportunities, and I’m excited to interact with people there. I will probably go to a lot of parties and get a lot of opportunities,” he said.
As he looks ahead to college, Avanessian plans to study political science as part of his path toward becoming a tax attorney, a goal that will require further studies in accounting and eventually law school.
One of Avanessian’s favorite memories from Hoover dates back to his sophomore year, when he participated in a dance contest with fellow current senior Erica Aleksani.
In a surprising twist, the ASB advisor played a slow song, had the pair hold hands, turned off the gym lights, and had them slow dance, creating a moment neither of them expected and won’t forget.
