Majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology, senior Kuvira Kapoor is gearing up for a college experience by the seaside after being accepted to the University of California, San Diego.
Kapoor was thrilled when the decisions were released.
“I was kind of expecting to get rejected because up until then I had received a lot of waitlists,” said Kapoor. “So my reaction was literally, ‘I got in!’”
UCSD was one of Kapoor’s top choices.
“Next to Berkeley and UCLA, it’s the number three public school in the nation,” Kapoor said. “It’s also a really good school for biology, which is what I want to do.”
She was also accepted into the Sixth College, known for its quality of life.
“It has a reputation for having nice dorms and meals… I thought the overall experience would be great,” said Kapoor.
Kapoor is especially excited about UCSD’s location and amenities.
“UCSD is really close to the beach, and it has good public transportation,” she said. “I’ll be close, but not too close, to home.”
Kapoor credited her family for helping her through the process.
“My mom made the process really easy, and my sister helped me a lot with PIQs,” Kapoor said. “[My sister] doesn’t live at home with us, but she scheduled weekly calls to guide me through my application.”
Gina Brownstein, Kapoor’s advanced honors ceramics teacher, praised her creativity and dedication.
“Kuvira is an incredibly creative and detail-oriented student. She will do amazingly wherever she goes next in life. She is brilliant and makes incredible artwork, so I hope she continues doing that, too,” Brownstein said.
