The Hoover High boys’ soccer team remained unbeaten early in the year, defeating Northridge Academy, 3-0, on Monday at home.
Hoover defeated Wiseburn, 3-2, on Wednesday.
The Tornados created many chances on goal early on in their game against Northridge.
With a costly mistake from Northridge, Hoover took advantage as in the eighth minute.
Alex Mekteryan, a senior captain, scored a volley from outside the box for Hoover’s first goal.
“I was very happy that I could put my team ahead after a great start to the game especially with a volley goal,” Mekteryan said.
The second half started and from kickoff, it was a tense back and forth for possession, as both teams were physically demanding.
With Northridge fans yelling constantly and Hoover supporters as well, the game became more intense with more tackles and fouls being given for both sides.
In the 74th minute, Hoover’s Alen Zakaryan buried a penalty kick into the right corner and scored making it 2-0.
Shortly after, Hoover gained momentum from Zakaryan’s goal and within three minutes Sebastian Izaguirre scored the final goal of the match.
“Great first home game to continue our great start to the season and keep the winning streak going,” Hoover defender Eric Davoudian said.
The Tornados will face the Village Christian Crusaders on Saturday in hopes of extending their winning streak.
