The Hoover Choir hosted its annual Valentine’s Day Grams on Friday, when students were able to buy songs and/or roses for their peers, teachers, or even a significant other.
“We plan on using the funds to help us pay for uniform pieces such as our choir shirts or formal attire,” stated president Sky Srivilas. “[We also use it to pay for] festivals and trips, including the trip to Disney we’re about to go on in March.”
Aside from raising money, choir also enjoys spreading love and spirit to Hoover’s classrooms.
“The best part about going around and singing is about how carefree we’re able to be,” claimed Srivilas. “We’re able to put our embarrassment aside and deliver a silly performance with little pressure.”
Adrianna Acevedo, who sang “Careless Whisper,” shared one of her favorite parts about the event.
“Couples would buy a gram for each other that was the same song during the same period, so it was really sweet,” said Acevedo.
Kate Mendoza performed “Lover Girl” and she enjoyed seeing the reactions from students.
”It was nice to see people smile and have fun,” said Mendoza.
