It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I had the chance to attend a Los Angeles Clippers game, and it became one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.
Not only did I get to watch the Clippers play the Portland Trail Blazers, but I also stepped onto the court, met the Clippers Spirit dancers, heard from both teams’ coaches, and enjoyed free food.
This incredible opportunity came through Hoover High School’s journalism program, where I am a student journalist.
Stepping onto the court felt surreal.
Everything looked massive up close, and it helped me understand the pressure NBA players face every time they play.
One of my favorite parts of the night was interviewing the Clippers Spirit dancers with fellow student journalist Jiyel Simon. They were incredibly kind and gave us advice on how to become better dancers. Hearing about their dedication and training made me realize how challenging it is to become a professional dancer.
Their encouragement inspired me to continue dancing and fueled my passion for pursuing it in the future.
Listening to the coaches speak was also inspiring. They talked about leadership, teamwork, and staying focused—lessons that go far beyond basketball.
And if that wasn’t enough, the free food made the night even better! I enjoyed delicious ice cream and my favorite drink, Coca-Cola. It tasted extra good knowing it was free.
Overall, it was an unforgettable night and an experience I will always treasure.
