Six Hoover High boys’ water polo players were honored on the All-Pacific League team.
Hoover goalkeeper Lucas Karakhanyan received the league’s top honor. He was named the Player of the Year
Armen Tarakhchayan and David Tarakhchyan were selected to the first team.
“Being a part of the all-league team means a lot for me,” David Tarakhchyan said. “ I always wanted to achieve that level, and being able to do it in my last year makes all the work I put in these last four years all the more worth it.”
Added Armen Tarakchyan: “This has been a huge goal of mine since I was a freshman and getting it has made me feel even better about our team and season than before. Next year I plan on going for more and that has been motivating.”
Arthur Tarakhchyan and Robert Toumasyan were honored on the second team.
“Being selected to the all-league team feels incredible,” Arthur Tarakhchyan said. “It’s a reminder that all the hard work, long practices, and tough moments really paid off. I’m proud of what I accomplished and grateful for everyone who supported me along the way.”
Hoover’s Felix Riffel was on honorable mention
“I feel honored to have been selected for all-league, the sport means the world to me,” Riffel said.
The Hoover boys’ water polo team advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division 3 playoffs. The Tornados fell to Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 7-6, in the quarterfinals.
“These boys kept the team together, and stepped up when we needed them most,” Hoover Coach Levon Harutyunyan said.
