After a long and exhausting four days of competition, Hoover High School’s Pep Team once again proved what dedication and teamwork could accomplish.
At this year’s Nationals, all three teams advanced to Finals, a round reserved for the top 30% of teams in each division. This marks only the fourth time in program history that all three teams have achieved this milestone in the same year, the last time being in 2019.
Pep Flags took second place out of four schools, Cheer finished in third place out of 15 schools and Varsity Dance was in fourth place out of 17 schools.
For the Varsity Dance team, this year’s Finals appearance continues an impressive streak.
“This is the 11th consecutive year our dance team has advanced to Finals,” said Bridget Bacon. “It’s a standard of excellence we are proud to maintain year after year.”
Cianna Del Rosario shared how meaningful the accomplishment was for the athletes.
“Seeing these girls finally feel accomplished and knowing that they’re capable of reaching their goals is more rewarding than anything,” she said “Proud is definitely an understatement. We can’t wait to dominate the national stage again.”
The Cheer team also celebrated continued success.
“This is Cheer’s second consecutive year finishing in the top three at Nationals and bringing home a medal,” said head cheer coach Cassie Jaravata. “These athletes have learned so much about discipline and teamwork this season. We can’t wait to see where they go from here.”
