With their second competition of the season completed, the Hoover Winter Line performed their production Where Silence Flows at Monrovia High School on Saturday.
Hoover earned third place in the Scholastic Open Class Division out of 11 schools.
“Individual section moments came across clearly and the judges are liking what we’re putting out,” said percussion director William Abraamyan. “I’m planning on ironing out all the final details in story development, as well as making sure the ending and outro are clear for a first read as we add those [parts of the show] on.”
Battery captain Adonis Stone hopes that the ensemble will achieve their “golden run” for the next competition.
“My goal for our next competition is that the run we have is the best run we’ve ever had all season,” envisioned Stone. “If we’re able to show the judges what a good performance of ours looks and sounds like, the scores will follow accordingly, and more importantly, the members will leave feeling better about the whole experience.”
Front ensemble captain Melody Han mentioned additional factors to help support this plan.
“I hope pit can achieve more of a unified expression at the next competition,” said Han. “We have really strong performers, but I felt that the pit put in different amounts of energy, which led us to not performing [completely in unison].”
