The Hoover Tornado Marching Band paraded through Disneyland’s Main Street on Friday afternoon.
Performing the Avengers theme song for their largest crowd yet, the parade was a special opportunity for Hoover’s instrumental music program to shine.
“We had a fantastic marching season, and it was great to celebrate these accomplishments with a huge audience and a parade down Main Street,” exclaimed band director Melissa Campbell. “For some students, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I’m glad we were able to gain such a unique and elevated performance experience.”
Adonis Stone, a member of Hoover’s marching band, previously marched the Disney parade for the Pasadena Community College Honors Band.
”Being able to tell people that you performed for Disney is a huge accomplishment in general,” claimed Stone. “I’m super happy I got to march at Disney for a second time…almost no one in the world gets to do that.”
Other members of the band shared their experience.
“I was nervous, mainly because I felt like it wasn’t something I’d ever get the chance to do again,” said senior Ani Davoudiyan. “After I actually started marching and heard people cheering, I felt pretty confident knowing others were watching us.”
The marching band hopes to expand their performance opportunities in the future.
“I hope we can continue having diverse performance experiences…I’m definitely open to the parade at Disney again, but I’m curious as to what other options may be out there for the [Hoover Tornado Marching Band],” said Campbell.
