On the last Friday of school before Thanksgiving Break, the ASB students at Hoover High School found a special way to remind teachers and faculty members just how important they are. ASB decided to spread kindness and gratitude all around campus.
One of the biggest surprises they prepared was a handwritten notecard for every single teacher and staff member. Each card included a thoughtful, heartfelt message, letting teachers know how much their hard work, patience, and dedication truly mean to the students.
Many teachers said the notes brightened their entire day.
Sophie Gharibian, Chair of the Celebrations Committee, explained why this project mattered so much to her.
“I felt as though November is a month for appreciation and being thankful. I thought of a way students could express their gratitude and appreciation through something physical,” she said.
In addition to the notecards, ASB also created a Gratitude Tree, which they placed in front of the ASB classroom. Students wrote kind messages on leaf-shaped pieces of paper and added them to the tree. By the end, the tree was filled with colorful notes showing just how much students care about the people who support them every day.
Teachers were genuinely surprised and touched by the gesture.
Araxi Dertavitian, the ninth-grade counselor, shared how meaningful the surprise felt.
“I just thought it was such a thoughtful surprise,” she said. “Usually when we check inside our mailbox, it’s empty, but this time it was an envelope prepared by the amazing ASB team. It made my day, and it was a really nice way to end the week before going into break.”
